SHRI D.S.RASTOGI
Sh. D.S.Rastogi, born in 1951, hails from Fatehpur (U.P.).He did post graduation in Medieval History from Allahabad University in 1973.After successfully completing the Civil Services Examination, he joined Indian Revenue Service in 1974.He worked in different capacities in the Income Tax Department of Govt. of India mainly at Delhi, Mumbai, Baroda & Ahmedabad.He sought voluntary retirement from Indian Revenue Service in 31.1.2011 when he was working as Chief Commissioner of Income-tax-1, Ahmedabad. He, then joined as Member, Income Tax Settlement Commission Chennai in January 2011.He is at present working as Chairman, Income Tax Settlement Commission, Principal Bench w.e.f. 1st February, 2012. His field of interest is Reading, Sports & Music.
SHRI S. K. CHATTOPADHYAY
Sri S. K. Chattopadhyay, born in 1950, hails from Murshidabad district of West Bengal. He did post graduation in English Literature and also graduated in Law from Calcutta University. After successfully completing the Civil Services Examination, he joined Indian Revenue Service in 1974. He worked in different capacities in the Income Tax Department of Govt. of India at Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Dhanbad and Jabalpur. He sought voluntary retirement from Indian Revenue Service in 2010 when he was working as Chief Commissioner of Income-tax, Mumbai. He, then, joined as Member, Income Tax Settlement Commission, Kolkata on 31st March, 2010. He is at present working as Vice Chairman w.e.f. 23. 02. 2011.
His field of interest is Law, Parapsychology, comparative religion and Literature,. He contributes articles in several tax journals and magazines and also wrote articles on other subjects. At one point of time he also contributed article to “The Speaking Tree” column of the Times of India. He is also associated with several charitable organizations for social and philanthropic activities.
SHRI DEBABRATA DAS
Mr. Debabrata Das did his M.A. In English from St. Stephen's College, Delhi in 1972. He belongs to the 1973 batch of Indian Revenueservice. He has worked in various capacities in the Income Tax Department including in Central Circle, Investigation Wing and International Taxation, Etc. before superannuating as Chief Commissioner-I, Mumbai.He joined the Income Tax Settlement Commission as Member in September, 2009, and is presently Vice- Chairman, Mumbai bench.
SHRI K. C. SARANGI
Shri K.C. Sarangi belongs to 1974 batch of Indian Revenue Service. He is a post graduate in Physics having LLB degree. Prior to joining Indian Revenue service, he was a faculty Member in Physics in Revenshaw College, Cuttack, Odisha and also joined Indian Forest Service. After joining Income Tax he has been posted at different places like Odisha, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune in different capacities . He has also undergone foreign training under Combo plan at Strath Clyde University, Glaxo, United Kingdom.
Prior to joining as Member, Income tax Settlement Commission , Additional Bench, Kolkata he was CCIT, Mumbai and DGIT (Inv.), Pune Shri sarangi's wife is presently working as Head of the Department, Physics in a Government College at Bhubaneswar. He has got two sons. The elder son Shri Ayaskant Sarangi is working as Vice-President in HDFC Bank, Mumbai and younger son shri Ayusman Sarangi after doing MBA from MIT, Boston is presently posted as product manager, Yahoo group at Santa Clara, Sanfrancisco, USA.
SHRI VINOD KHURANA
Shri Vinod Khurana belongs to 1975 batch of Indian Revenue Service. He is B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) from IIT, Delhi; MBA from FMS, Delhi University and M. Phil (Public Administration) from Punjab university. Prior to joining Indian Revenue Service, he was working as company executive in M/s. General Electric Company, Kolkata. After joining income Tax Department, he has been posted at different places, such as Delhi, Meerut, Kanpur, Kolkata and Chennai in different capacities. He also worked on central deputation in various central government departments, such as well as in a Central Government Undertaking- National Building construction company Limited, New Delhi.
Prior to joining as member, income Tax Settlement Commission, Additional Bench, Chennai he was posted as CCIT-VIII, Kolkata, and DGIT (Inv.) Kolkata. He also functioned as Vice Chairman, ITSC, Additional Bench, Chennai, before his transfer to Additional Bench, Kolkata. Presently he is working as Member, additional Bench, Kolkata.
SHRI KAMLESH ARGAL
Shri Kamlesh Argal was born on 22nd August, 1951. He hails from the town of Damoh in the State of Madhya Pradesh. He completed his schoolings by obtaining General Certificate of Education (O-Level) from University of Cambridge. He then went on to complete his Bachelor of Science Degree from Nainital. He joined the Indian Revenue Service in 1974 and has been posted at Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Bhopal, Kolkata and Raipur. He was the Director of Income –tax (Investigation) at Kochi as well as at Bhopal. While in service, he also completed his LL.B from University of Mumbai. He joined the Income Tax Settlement Commission as Member on 29.08.2011 and is presently posted as Vice-Chairman, Additional Bench, Chennai.
Shri Argal has played Table Tennis at the National Level and has won many prizes at State and National level. He was also the Captain of Allahabad University in Table Tennis. His hobbies include reading and music.
SHRI R.K. SINGH
Shri R.K Singh, Member, Income Tax Settlement Commission, Mumbai, was born in 1950. He hails from Western Uttar Pradesh and did his Post Graduation in Solid State Physics from University of Roorkee in 1970. E taught Physics for about two years in a Post Graduate College and thereafter joined Provincial Civil Services in Uttar Pradesh for some time.
He joined Indian Revenue Service in 1973 and worked in the Income-tax Department in various capacities at New Delhi, Kanpur, Agra, Liuchow and Mumbai. His last assignment in the Department was as Chief Commissioner of Income-tax-I, Mumbai, from where he took voluntary retirement in May, 2010 and joined the Income-tax Settlement Commission, additional Bench at Chennai. Presently he is working as Member, Income Tax Settlement Commission at Mumbai since September, 2010.
SHRI KARAN SINGH
Sri Karan Singh, born in 1950 at Allababad, Uttar Pradesh. Did MSc Physics from Allahabad University in 1972 and LLB from Rohil Khand University in 1981. Joined Indian Revenue Service in 1973. He worked in almost all parts of the country viz Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Attended one year course at University of Bath, UK in 1989-90. Promoted as Chief Commissioner of Income-tax in January, 2007 and worked as C.C.Surat, Tamil Nadu and Mumbai. Took VRS from the department in May, 2010 as Member, Income-tax Settlement Commission since then.
SHRI AKHILESH PRASAD
Shri Akhilesh Prasad, born in 1951 , hails from Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh. He did post graduation in Western History and also completed LL.M from Harvard Law School, USA. After successfully completing the Civil Services Examination, he joined Indian Revenue Service in 1974. He worked in different capacities in the Income Tax Department of Government of India at Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Delhi. He sought voluntary retirement from Indian Revenue Service in 2011 when he was working as Chief Commissioner of Income-tax, Delhi. He, then, joined as member, Income Tax Settlement Commission, Delhi on 11th August, 2011. He is at present working as Member.
His field of interest is reading, golf and gardening. He has contributed articles to several magazines and has also written a critique on VAT.
